- 2 blue snow crab cut and cleaned
- 1 cup sliced onion
- 1 tsp ginger garlic paste
- 1 tsp chili powder
- 1/2 tsp turmeric powder
- 1/2 tsp cumin powder
- 1 tsp salt/to taste
- 2 cups coconut milk
- 2 Cinnamon sticks
- 2 Cardamom
- 1 cup chopped coriander
- 2 lime leaves lemon works well too.
- 4 green chili
Spicy coconut paste
- 1/2 cup grated coconut
- 1/2 cup soaked red chili
- 1 tsp poppy seeds
Instructions
- Cut and clean the crabs and marinate with salt, 1 tsp lemon juice, 1/2 tsp chili powder, 1/2 tsp turmeric powder. marinate and keep it aside.
- blend the chili coconut paste until it is a coarse paste.
- In a pan add oil, whole gorom moshla/cinnamons, cardamom and sliced onion.
- Cook until onions are brown. Add ginger-garlic paste, chili-coconut paste, chili powder, turmeric powder, and salt.
- Mix well and cook for 5-7 minutes in medium low heat.
- You can add some water so it doesnt burn.
- After 5-7 minutes add the marinated crabs and mix very well with the gravy.
- coat the crabs and add lemon leaves, green chili and coconut milk
- now cover and cook for 10 minutes until crab is cooked and fragrant.
- Once you see the oil is separating from the gravy, put the heat to low and simmer for a few more minutes before sprinkling some cumin powder and fresh chopped coriander.
- Serve with hot steamed rice/pulao, salads, a slice of lemon and some raita.
