Spicy Sheem Aloo Shutki So Easy To Make!!!
Sheem aloo shutki bhaji
Shutki Sheem Aloo is a flavorful Bengali/ Bangladeshi dish featuring dried fish (shutki) cooked with flat beans (sheem) and potatoes (aloo). This dish combines the bold, smoky aroma of dried fish with tender vegetables, spiced with garlic, onions, and green chilies. It’s a hearty and rustic curry, perfect for pairing with plain steamed rice.
Equipment
- 1 pan to cook.
Ingredients
- 250g Flat beans or sheem. cut and cleaned
- 4 hidol, puti/chepa shutki
- 2 potatoes cut in wedges
- 1/2 cup sliced onion
- 3 green chili
- 2 tbsp sliced garlic
- 1 tbsp chili powder/ chili paste
- 1/2 tsp Turmeric powder
- 1 handful coriander to garnish
- 3-4 lime leaves/lebu pata
Instructions
- In a pan add oil, add in the potatoes, a bit of salt and cook until golden brown.
- add sliced onion and garlic and cook for 2-3 minutes until translusent
- Add a cup of water, chili paste/powder and turmeric powder and stir well.
- Cook for 5-7 minutes before adding the washed dried fish.
- mix and cook again in medium-low heat until oil seperates.
- Now add the flat beans/sheem and salt and stir. add a splash of water, cover with a lid, and cook until sheem and aloo is soft.
- lastly garnish with coriander and serve hot with plain rice and a slice of lemon.
