Patla Shobji Khichuri Recipe: Comforting Bengali Vegetable Khichuri

- Wash rice and lentils in a bowl, strain and set it aside.
- In a pot add oil, temper whole spices.
- Add in the sliced onions. cook for a few minutes.
- add in the diced potatoes. followed by ginger garlic paste.cook for 2,3 minutes.
- add in the tomatoes. mix well.
- add in chilli and turmaric powder and cook for 2 minutesadd in the meat masala powder along with rest of the vegetables.
- mix well. add washed rice and lentils.combine again and cook for a few minutes before adding in 10 cups of hot water .
- Adjust salt and let everything come to a boil.continuously stir to get a thick mushy consistancy.
- Add more water if needed, add green peas.
- lower the heat. drizzle some ghee and garnish with gorom masala, chilies, fried onion, garlic, etc.
- Simmer for a few more minutes and serve hot.
